Man: re-defined

The New York Times and news.co.au both have articles on how the male species is evolving and blurring the lines of what a man is suppose to look like in the 21st Century.

Well, at least he thinks about something!

Q Mr. President, we were told that you planned to sharpen your focus on Iraq. Why did this become necessary? And given the recent surge in violence, do you agree with Vice President Dick Cheney's assessment that the insurgency is in its last throes?

PRESIDENT BUSH: Adam, I think about Iraq every day -- every single day -- because I understand we have troops in harm's way, and I understand how dangerous it is there. And the reason it's dangerous is because there's these cold-blooded killers that will kill Americans or kill innocent Iraqis in order to try to drive us out of Iraq. I spoke to our commanders today -- Commander Abizaid today, and will be speaking to General Casey here this week, getting an assessment as to how we're proceeding. We're making progress toward the goal, which is, on the one hand, a political process moving forward in Iraq, and on the other hand, the Iraqis capable of defending themselves. And the report from the field is that while it's tough, more and more Iraqis are becoming battle-hardened and trained to defend themselves. And that's exactly the strategy that's going to work. And it is going to work. And we will -- we will complete this mission for the sake of world peace.

And you just heard the EU is willing to host this conference with the United States in order to help this new democracy move forward. And the reason why is many countries understand that freedom in the heart of the Middle East will make this world more peaceful.

And so, you know, I think about this every day, every single day, and will continue thinking about it, because I understand we've got kids in harm's way. And I worry about their families; and I obviously, any time there's a death, I grieve. But I want those families to know, one, we're not going to leave them -- not going to allow their mission to go in vain; and, two, we will complete the mission and the world will be better off for it.

Brilliant!

cuter than kittens

A very nice girl by the name of Cara over at Cornerstone Promotion in NYC sent me a link for a Ratatat remix of Shout Out Louds' "The Comeback" and a terribly cute film on the making of the band. Cara was also lovely enough to ship me a copy of the CD.

I'm still trying to figure out how she found me on the 'net but I heart her so it doesn't matter.

This is not my Canada

What a sorry excuse for Canadian music the Canadian version of Live 8 is. Free tickets or not you could not drag me out to Barrie for 9 hours of this crap. I'll show my support for Make Poverty History another way. As Frank at chromewaves has pointed out its about the 'big names' drawing attention and not the quality of the music. But really, would it be so difficult through some indie (with the exception of Sam Roberts who also did SARSstock)into the mix? radiodan shares my feelings.

Better than Viagra

This makes me sad. Ben Kerr has passed away. I will miss seeing him at the corner of Yonge & Bloor. He was one of those unique characters that made me glad to live in Toronto. I loved seeing him wailing away microphone in hand and his small amp behind him.

I only hope that he finds a corner in heaven to sing on.

Rest in peace Ben.

Separation of State and Church....

Separation of church and state is the only principle that can ensure religious and philosophical freedom for all Americans. Church-state separation does not mean hostility toward religion. Rather, it means that the government will remain neutral on religious questions, leaving decisions about God, faith and house of worship attendance in the hands of its citizens.
The Governor of Texas Rick Perry doesn't seem to get it!

What do you know about the Separation of State and Church? Take the quiz.

I love this watch!
NOOK ZOT

It's brother the NOOK ZOO is pretty slick too

I Could Have Told You That!!

LindtTurns out two of my favourite vices, red wine and dark chocolate are not vices after all.

My GP has already told me to drink red wine to increase my "good" cholesterol levels & my naturopath says if I'm going to each heaps of chocolate it might as well be dark chocolate.

I'll be following my doctor's advise this weekend!

How the hell....

Boeing 747
Top airline in North America: Air Canada
I know not a single soul that has had a positive experience with Air Canada. Let's just hope my experience with British Airways and Qantas is a good one considering I will be spending a total of 56 hours in large, heavy, metal projectiles.

Outbound:

Toronto - London = 7hrs 10mins

London - Perth = 19hrs 0mins

Inbound:

Perth - London = 22hrs 10mins (yes my prettys..thats almost a full day of recycled air!)

London - Toronto = 7hrs 40mins

TOTAL: 56hrs 0mins

Needless to say I've been reading up on DVT and it ain't pretty!!
